If installing using the Curseforge launcher, then the pack should install as is. Though some of the optional resource packs might get skipped.
Pros:
The official launcher for all Curseforge mods and packs
Easy to search and install
Cons:
Uses a lot of resources
Installs Overwolf
Does not provide an intuitive console
Does not provide easy access to many configuration options
Available for only Windows & Mac (no Minecraft Linux support)
Sometimes developers opt to not support . When this happens the launchers will notify you and attempt to provide an alternate method to download the mod or resource pack
Prism is my personal favorite I use every day to play and test Minecraft
Pros:
Lightweight and fast
Great for older and slower computers
Supports multiple Minecraft accounts
Great console
Simple yet highly configurable interface
Can easily install and update both mods and modpacks from many sources
Fully supports Windows, Mac, Steam Deck, and my favorite, Linux
Cons:
Developers can opt out of supporting direct downloads of mods and packs (the above video at this timestamp shows what happens and is not a big deal.
I use GDLauncher for adding/updating mod and making the client install files.
I am considering replacing GDLauncher with ATLauncher creating packs.
Pros:
Modpack management with easy installation of mods, maps and resource packs from CurseForge and Modrinth
Automatically use the correct version of Java without having to worry about messing around with different Java installs
Multiple instances. Install a pack as many times as you like without messing up a previous install
Multiple accounts allow you to login as different users from the one install
Install packs from ATLauncher, CurseForge, Modrinth and Technic
Fully supports Windows, Mac, and Linux
Plus more features
Cons:
Might not work on Steam Deck
Just don't use this for modded Minecraft without a lot of pain setting up
Malware, cracked Minecraft - CCA is not supported with this launcher
